This page is about white magic as a general job command. For the job command in Bravely Default: Where the Fairy Flies, see White Magic (Bravely Default). For the job command in Bravely Second: End Layer, see White Magic (Bravely Second).

White Magic (白魔法, Shiro Mahō) is a recurring job command in the Bravely series games. It is the branch of magic mainly used to heal HP and cure status ailments, and is commonly contrasted by Black Magic. It is innate to white mages, and while red mages are naturally capable of white magic as well, the spells they can use are limited to four levels.

The power of white magic spells is augmented by the MND stat of the user. The higher the stat, the more HP is restored. Other jobs are able to use white magic spells by equipping the corresponding job command, and scrolls, which can be bought in cities and in certain locations, are required to use spells. Cura 9-20 MP Restore a medium amount of HP to one target. This spell can be group-cast and will damage undead enemies.
Raise 18 MP Revive one target from K.O. and restore HP. Note that this spell has a 70% chance to cause death when used on undead enemies.
Esuna 8-18 MP Cure the status ailments poison, blind, silence, sleep, paralyze, dread, berserk, confuse, and charm for one target.
Reflect 16 MP Form a barrier around one target that reflects white magic, black magic, and time magic. BDFF
Dispel 8 MP Cancel the support effects regen, stop, reflect, reraise, as well as those that nullify status ailments, raise/lower stats, abate/nullify elements or make targets weaker to them, absorb damage, or are imparted by sword magic.
Aerora 15-25 MP Deal medium wind damage to one target. This spell can be group-cast. BDFF, BSEL
Esunaga 20 MP Cure the status ailments poison, blind, silence, sleep, paralyze, dread, berserk, confuse, and charm for all targets.
Curada 27-30 MP Restore a large amount of HP to one target. This spell can be group-cast and will damage undead enemies.
Aeroga 45 MP Deal major wind damage to one target. This spell can be group-cast.
Curaga 40-60 MP Restore a huge amount of HP to one target. This spell can be group-cast and will damage undead enemies.
Arise 50-80 MP Revive one target from K.O. and restore all HP. Note that this spell has a 70% chance to cause death when used on undead enemies. Restores up to 9999 HP when not using Bravely Second.
Holy 80 MP Deal light-element damage to one target.
Raise All 60 MP Revive all targets from K.O. and restore a huge amount of HP. Note that this spell has a 70% chance to cause death when used on undead enemies. This spell cannot be reflected. Bravely Second: End Layer BSEL

  • Epic Group-Cast / Group-Cast Master - retains recovery magic's power even when group-casting
  • Group-Cast All - allows single-target white magic to be cast on all enemies/allies
  • Prolong Support - doubles the duration of stat-raising effects on yourself (or on your party)
  • Save Magic MP - reduces the MP cost of white magic by 25%
  • Chainspell - allows white magic to be cast twice in one turn
  • Abate Wind - reduces damage taken from Aero, Aerora and Aeroga
  • Full Leverage - doubles the efficacy of recovery magic and MP cost for five turns
  • Low Leverage - halves the efficacy of recovery magic and MP cost for five turns
  • Abate Light - reduces damage taken from Holy
  • Magic Critical / Critical Hitter - gives recovery magic a chance to score a critical hit
  • Healing Lore - doubles the efficacy of HP-recovery magic
  • Save WM MP - reduces the MP cost of white magic by 25%
  • Holy One - reduces P.Atk but boosts the efficacy of recovery magic by 2.5x
  • Spellcraft - boosts white magic and allows it to be modified
  • Good Measure - combines a successively cast white magic by to boost its power by 2.5x
  • Brevity - gives white magic a chance to be boosted by Good Measure even without casting it successively
  • Echo - gives white magic a chance to be cast successively without any MP cost

  • User side
    • Silence - disables the use of MP-consuming white magic
    • Stillness - nullifies damage taken from offensive white magic
    • Invocation Amaterasu - boosts the efficacy of recovery magic
    • Calm - nullifies damage taken from offensive white magic
    • Elemental Boon - boosts the power of offensive white magic by 1.5x if it matches the spell's element
  • Target Side
    • Element-Weak - takes 1.5x more damage from offensive white magic if it matches the spell's element
    • Default - reduces damage taken from offensive white magic
    • Reflect / Magic Mirror - returns white magic back to the caster's side
    • Before Swine - halves damage taken from offensive white magic and counterattacks with a conventional attack with 3x the power
    • Eye for an Eye - counterattacks with a conventional attack with 4x the power when an ally takes damage from offensive white magic
    • Support Amp - increases stat-raising effects received by 10% and lowers stat-lowering effects received by 10%
    • Mist - makes white magic take effect at the end of every turn but hits all targets for three turns
    • Elemental Ward - reduces damage taken from offensive white magic
    • Elemental Mirror - reflects offensive white magic back to the caster's side if it matches the spell's element
    • Elemental Barrier - nullifies damage taken from offensive white magic if it matches the spell's element
    • Winter Storm - disables the effect of recovery magic
