[edit] Appearance

Belphegor appears as a huge brown beast sitting on a wheeled chair. This chubby demon has four small wings on top of its head, three pairs of limbs, and two small eyes. It wears a rather large grin that exposes two short tusks, and two of its limbs, which look like its arms, are larger than the other four ones below it. It has a long tail, and an almost unnoticeable crown on its head. The wheeled contraption underneath its chair looks like a motorcycle tire, and the hubcap has an eerie orange glow inside it.

[edit] Battle

Belphegor is quite a peculiar enemy because of its ability to absorb damage, except for its elemental weaknesses. Its weakness cycles between Fire, Water, Lightning, then back to Fire (in that order) every time it is successfully attacked (even without taking any damage.) But just like any other sin, it has other moves and a sin-based one for use against the player. It will usually fire off Hammer throughout the beginning of the match. If it uses Sloth, its sin-based move, it is almost always followed by Summon Sphere, which summons three Spheres to fight for it, unless its HP is around half. Otherwise, it would cast its -ja spell. The Spheres each have a unique weakness in accordance to Belphegor's: one is weak to Fire, another one to Water and a third one to Lightning. Belphegor and the Spheres can also use Firaja, Blizzaja and Thundaja, but Belphegor can only use one at a time depending on his weakness (If weak to Fire, it can only use Thundaja. If weak to Water, then only Firaja and if weak to Lightning, then only Blizzaja.) Each of the Spheres is in the same boat. During this time, the Spheres will either assault with Body Blow or cast -ja spells, while Belphegor will take its time attacking with Diffusion Ray, Hammer or its -ja spell, or weakening the characters with Sloth. If left alive after 6 turns, the Spheres will all Self-Destruct and deal heavy physical damage to all characters.

To protect from the -ja spells, use the Astrologian's Elemental Barrier regularly since Belphegor can use Sloth to dispel any positive effects on the characters. While there is no way to prevent the elemental-weakness from Sloth, you can still dispel them using the Freelancer's Square One or the Exorcist's Purgation. It is not advisable to cast any reflection effects since Belphegor and the Spheres can absorb them, unless they are weak to the reflected ability/magic. Instead, time your cast of Bishop's Calm + Freelancer's Mimic to protect from Diffusion Ray, Hammer or the Sphere's Self-Destruct.
